Âs Nutayuneân – We Are Still Here!

We are the Nemasket Tribal Nation, the People of the Herring. We are the descendants of the Indigenous People of the Eastern Woodlands in the Place that today is called Southern New England. We are a Wolf Clan. We are living witnesses of those who endured and survived 1st contact with Europeans in the 17th century.
We are Still Here, and we shall remain.

Our Vision

We dedicate ourselves to the revitalization and restoration of Indigenous ways and the validation of Indigenous people. We believe in creating vibrant and healthy communities and are passionate about reconnecting our tribal family while building solid relations with other tribes. We believe in working with committed allies to see the development and execution of initiatives around what we think are the three fundamental tenants of self-determination: health, education, and housing.

We are further committed to finding ways to integrate, support, and preserve the “Indigenous way” of life with a focus on our rich cultural history, spiritual practices, and social values as a means to make the world a better place.

How You Can Help

Support Our Preservation Trust

The Nemasket Preservation Trust promotes the preservation and acquisition of the Natural Resources, Ceremonial Landscapes and other Places of Power within our Historic Territories.

Our events focus on educating and informing our members and other communities of the rich history of the land that the Nemasket people honor.

Your donation of materials helps us to provide Nemasket and other Indigenous Youth experiential access to their Ancestral traditions, ceremony, and rituals.
